Sale of Argos

On Friday 31 July, Sainsbury’s agreed for Swift Partners, a newly established company led by three hugely experienced retail leaders, to become Argos’s new owners. Nothing changes immediately, as there are more steps to go through before the sale completes, which we expect to happen by the end of February 2027.

Sainsbury’s believes Swift’s investment, commitment and experience will provide Argos with a strong platform for its next chapter, while enabling Sainsbury’s to focus on the significant opportunities ahead in its core food business.

Once the sale completes there will be no changes to existing veterans Sainsbury’s colleague discount. We are working closely with Swift to explore opportunities for Sainsbury’s veterans to have access to some form of Argos discount in the future. This discussion is ongoing and we will come back to you soon with an update.
