What is a Veteran?
- A ‘Veteran’ is an ex-colleague who has left the Company due to retirement (including ill-health retirement and capability dismissal following a period of long term absence), redundancy or leave through TUPE with a minimum of 25 years continuous service.
- Eligibility rules have changed over the years so that at the point of leaving, the eligibility rules in place at that time are applied to determine if a colleague is able to become a veteran.
- If a colleague qualifies to become a Company Veteran, membership is automatic.
- Veteran benefits only apply to actual Company Veterans that meet all the criteria requirements and have an address in the UK and Ireland.
- We do invite ex-colleagues who have retired but may not have qualified to become a Company Veteran to join a local association.
